Muddy’s Cafe is cradled by a divine location, sitting regally with a panoramic view of the sparkling ocean. The tableau outside your window as you dig into your meal can only be described as a feast for your eyes. Be it breakfast or dinner, the food is scrumptious, meticulously prepared, and reasonably priced.

For families, this place is a godsend. The ingenious design includes a wonderful play space for toddlers on one side, a larger playground on the other, and an enormous grassed area. It is designed to let parents indulge in their meals while still keeping an eye on their playing children. Also, their kids’ menu is notably substantial and reasonable, ensuring your little ones won’t be leaving hungry.

Taco Tuesday Revolution

Muddy’s is also famed for its Taco Tuesday promotion, an absolute must-try. The Fish Tacos are surprisingly filling and an absolute bargain at just $12. If you’re visiting Cairns or are a local, you don’t want to miss out on this.

However, as it is with any good thing, patience is required at Muddy’s Cafe. At peak times, the wait for your meal can run a bit long. But, rest assured, the deliciousness you’ll be served makes the wait worthwhile. And if you are in a hurry, a takeaway option is also available.

Finally, the staff at Muddy’s Cafe deserves a commendation. They are courteous, professional, and clearly driven to provide an impeccable dining experience. Their responses to a few service hiccups were dealt with in a manner that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction.

If you’re a seafood lover, the fish items here, like the Fish Tacos, are a mouthwatering treat. The almond croissant, full of almond paste filling, and their flavorful burgers are also worth a special mention. But, even with such an extensive menu, Muddy’s Cafe doesn’t compromise on the quantity or quality of their servings.

I'll start with a summary: there is simply nothing to not love about Muddy's. I stayed in Cairns for about a week for work (and you couldn't ask for a nicer place in the world for your job to send you on travel!), and after discovering Muddy's we ended up going for breakfast almost every day. The location is picture perfect - set among some beautiful lush green trees with an adjacent playground for the kids to enjoy, right along the boardwalk and water. You can just sit and relax while staring out at the sea and taking in all the beauty that is Cairns. There's plenty of indoor and shaded outdoor seating, although because of the popularity sometimes you may need to wait a few minutes for a table. The food is excellent, and you essentially just can't go wrong with anything here. The thick milkshakes (thickshakes) are outstanding - among the best vanilla shakes I've ever had. The sourdough toast is heavenly, especially loaded up with butter and strawberry jam. The chai lattes are excellent, and the açai bowl is outstanding (with fresh fruit and optional peanut butter and yogurt). The smoothies and juice drinks are to die for, made fresh to order. It's almost worth traveling to Cairns just for a Muddy's smoothie! The service is equally wonderful, with staff bringing food to your table after you order either online via QR code at your table or in person at the register. Food is brought out as it's ready, so you will likely get different parts of your order at different times, and similarly food for different people in your group will likely come out at different times. The staff are super friendly, and on the rare occasion when a mistake was made they were more than happy to fix it. There's a reason Muddy's is always so busy - it's a true gem among many great restaurants in town. If you're here looking for a great place for breakfast, a cafe to relax and get a coffee, or desire an afternoon treat, Muddy's is where you want to be!

Where to begin.....This place is AMAZING. It's a perfect visit for anyone, but especially if you have kiddies, very FAMILY FRIENDLY. The location is devine with beautiful ocean views. The food is lovely we dined here for breakfast and dinner, and both meals were exceptional. Staff are so welcoming and helpful. The meals are a great size and all reasonably priced. A wonderful playspace for little toddlers on one side of the cafe and a bigger playground on the other side. The waterpark was a huge hit with all the kids. A truly special place. Thank you for your hospitality Kid-friendliness: A great priced kids menu, slightly bigger than normal baby chinos. Wonderful play space on either side of cafe, one for toddlers, and the other for bigger kids. Can even sit and watch kids play from some of the tables. Huge grassed area.
