Suan Suan

An Unforgettable Hotpot Experience at Suan Suan

Have you ever walked into a place and felt an instant connection? That’s the magic of Suan Suan in Cairns. Imagine this: a place where every hotpot simmered beckons you closer, where the aromas make your heart flutter and where every bite feels like home.

Hotpot Heaven

From the moment you walk in, the warmth of Suan Suan wraps around you. The friendly staff, always wearing their heartwarming smiles, greet you like an old friend and are eager to share their favourite dishes or guide you if you’re overwhelmed by the scrumptious choices.

Now, let’s talk about that spicy soup. It’s the kind of kick that makes you sit up and take notice! If spice isn’t quite your song and dance, the gentle embrace of the miso soup base might be right up your alley.

There’s a promise in every dish here – the lamb is so tender, it’s as if it’s whispering stories of lush meadows. The greens and bamboo shoots? Oh, they’re as crisp as a morning in spring.

And for all my fellow veggie lovers out there, there’s a special corner in this culinary wonderland. Tofu, garden-fresh vegetables, and a mesmerizing mushroom broth that sings to your soul. Plus, with the induction cookers, you get to enjoy the hotpot without breaking a sweat.

Dine, Delight, Repeat

As for the price? It’s a little treat for the wallet too, sitting between A$40-60. And hey, if you find yourself coming back again and again (like most of us do), there’s always those nifty member discounts to look forward to.

So many Local Guides and fellow food enthusiasts echo the same sentiment: Suan Suan is not just a dining experience, it’s like coming home. With every visit, you’re not just indulging in a meal; you’re becoming a part of a story, a community, a family. So the next time you’re in Cairns, make a little stop at Suan Suan and join this flavorful journey. After all, there’s always room for one more at this family table!

One of the better hot pot restaurants in town. Good variety of food. The hot pot uses induction cooker which reduces heat for the customers. Each customer has their own pot so you don’t need to share pot with anyone. You can also choose your own soup flavour. Buffet comes with free standard soft drink. Beers are extra. If you change your mind and change the soup, there is an $8 fee as well. If you are local to Cairns, you can sign up for member discount. For most people, spring water, mushroom, or traditional soup are the best bet. Tom yum if you want something a bit different. Yes they have various veggies, tofu and mushroom as well for vegetarian. WARNING: the pepper spicy soup is NOT for the faint of heart. If you can’t eat fresh chillies then don’t even think about it. Even if you can eat raw fresh chillies, this is still something else.

Other reviews had me hesitant, but I’m very glad we went, rolled out after 1.5 hours with very full happy bellies. Bit confusing at first, the hot plates were tricky to keep at simmering level, but on /off /on /off worked great.. keep an eye out for the yummies in the coolers at the front as well as the ordering menu.. recommend highly Vegetarian options: Plenty to fill a vegi stomach, many tofu and fresh veg options and yummy mushroom broth.. the spicy broth may be vegetarian too, but I didn’t try it!!
